How do high school friendships figure in your life? Did you marry a classmate (we know of at least eight class couples)? Are there classmates you email, send cards or letters to or occasionally talk to on the phone?
In the summer of 2005, the reunion committee began to plan the class of 1961’s 45th celebration. I looked forward with anticipation to the August, 2006, gathering eager to experience the results of our efforts.
WOW! We inspired Phil Brown, Sue Garner Golden, Melissa McGregor Fister and Janet Ehrmantraut Cismadi and so many others to return and share memories. Janet has already volunteered to help in 2011.
To think that Jack Shaw drove himself all the way from Florida to be with you and to be with me! He certainly earned his Skyline Chili prize for his long journey. John Irwin and wife, Kathryn Allen, won a can of Skyline for “most grand- and great-grand children.”
Gosh! I was excited to see my first sweetheart, John ‘Blindman’ Labavitch and his friendly wife, Francie. Can anyone hide a smile when Eddie Southard and his wife, Tonie, relate life experiences and memories? Did Eddie kiss Patty Rapp Nulsen again? Did I miss that?
As I chatted with Carol Kemper Dubois, Mary Kay Thomas Ross, Lois Wedig Wagner and Linda Kaye Blumberg at the Friday night event, I could see our beautiful Ohio River and the Cincinnati skyline. Newport has exploded and the new ball stadiums are impressive.
I bet the Dunings, the Pearces, the Grants and the Kleins have cheered for the Reds and the Bengals in those stadiums.
Hey! Mitch Goldberg, Keith Humpries, Barry Fielman and Joanne Jaeger Webb: as you revisited our area…did you see what happened to Fountain Square?
