Bill Duning

Dear Bulldog:

Our Woodward Class of ‘61 45th Reunion is now a fond memory.  This Reunion Weekend will be long remembered for good times with our classmates.  Our experiences and interests have taken us far (and wide) from that old school building on Reading Road.  Many classmates came to the Reunion from great distances.  This was the first reunion that Jack Shaw has attended.  He drove himself in his specially equipped van all the way from Florida.

Our Reunion Committee deserves our thanks for all of the voluntary time, work and energy they invested in making our 45th a memorable event.  Their efforts are a testimony as to what a great class we have.  The Committee has a commitment to keep our class together.  They put together the details that made our reunion event exceptional.

Our new website is the result of many many hours of efforts by Bill Curry and Andy Grant.  Our website will keep us in touch.  Last March we began seeking voluntary donations from our Class to fund communications between reunions and to maintain our website.  Classmates to date have donated $1,832 which will go a long way toward helping us maintain an accurate mailing list, communicate with you about class events and keep our website operating.  You are welcome to support our site but remember that contributions are strictly voluntary.

Extra thanks to Patty Rapp Nelson for taking on our class newsletter.  Patty plans to keep us up to date on our classmates.  You can help by sending her your thoughts and updates - or even just saying hello.  Special thanks are also due to Keith Humphries who underwrote the production costs for our 45th Reunion Class Directory.  We have a limited supply of these directories for sale as well as a photo CD compiled by a professional photographer at our Saturday night gala and dinner.

Our 50th Reunion is being planned for September 16, 17, and 18, 2011.  Yes, this means we will plan a three-day milestone event including Sunday activities to increase your opportunities to participate and catch up after five decades.  Please save the date!

Everyone can help make our 50th Reunion the special weekend we all want it to be simply by keeping your contact information current.  We’re all on the brink of retirement age and perhaps ready to relocate or downsize, and we don’t want to lose contact with any more classmates.  Our list of missing classmates now stands at about 70, and contact information for another 50-plus classmates is uncertain.  So please stay in touch, and help us to keep your information current.

A final special thanks to Jim Pearce and Carol Quisno Pearce for their months of hard work on virtually every aspect of the 45th Reunion.  Their commitment and spirit are truly extraordinary.

Be sure to visit our website regularly for news about classmates and our 50th Reunion.  We all hope to see you in 2011.

Best,

Bill Duning

P.S.

Our 45th Reunion included Special Guests - about a dozen teachers including Lois Keefe, Jean Armstrong, Judy Wenstrup D’Amico, Paul Haverkos, Bob Connelly, Charlie Warman, John Anaple, and Bob McSpadden.  Buck Wilkins made this possible.

We also met Larry Ballew, Principal of the newly reopened Woodward which is now known as Woodward Career Technical High School.
